EPCRA EXPO 2007
Community Right-to-Know was the theme for the first EPCRA EXPO held by the
Region 5/6 LEPC. The event was held March 13th at the Fremont City Auditorium
and was open to the public. There were 15 federal, state and local response
agencies that set up information booths and provided literature and giveaways
for people to take home. Even the participating response agencies got the
opportunity to network and share information with each other.
EPCRA (Emergency
Planning/Community Right-to-Know Act) is part of the EPA SARA Title III
program. Certain firms must provide the public with information about
hazardous materials on their premises. These firms are known as TIER II
facilities; a complete list of their names can be found on our website:

II Reporting Companies by County” link.
CF Industries and
Hormel, both located in Fremont, were 2 of the Dodge County co-sponsors for
this event.
The Region 5/6 LEPC and Cargill participated in a similar event that was held
on March 31st in Blair at the South Elementary School. This program was
organized by the Washington County Extension Office. A special feature at both
events was the display of the Region 5/6 “model city” which was set-up to
simulate disaster scenarios in Fremont and Blair.
